Vacancy Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of professional development with our client. At a time of regulatory change they are seeking to appoint a Head of Professional Practice who will lead on some of the most challenging policy developments in legal services regulation.

You will lead the work of the Board on all aspects of policy relating to the professional practice of barristers. Most immediately this includes: developing the Board’s response to the Legal Services Act’s radical new framework for the provision of legal services; managing the review of their Code of Conduct and establishing a new regulatory approach for the future. In all of this, you will need to build strong working relationships with all parts of the Bar, consumers and others with an interest in maintaining high standards of practice. You will also need to work collaboratively with other regulators in the legal services field.

They are looking for an experienced and talented individual with a demonstrable track record in delivering a demanding programme of policy reforms. Whilst a legal qualification is not necessary, a good understanding of legal services will be an advantage. Strong communication skills and a commitment to risk-based regulation are essential.
